Laureate head right / EX S C/ P P/ OB/ CIVES/ SERVATOS in four lines within oak wreath. RIC I 112. Fine, dark green patina, some smoothing. An interesting early issue of Claudius. The emperor’s rise to power hardly merits such a laudatory reverse legend describing the emperor as having saved the citizens! Estimate: $300 |  |
